Trusting God

“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God REALLY said, ‘You shall not eat of EVERY tree of the garden’?””
Genesis‬ 3:1‬

I have been pondering over this verse as it came up in a message recently. I have also been listening to a lot of doubts expressed by my kids and friends and introspecting..

How cunning the serpent was! Eve had to hear this instruction from Adam because God told him not to eat from that ONE tree before He created Eve. So Eve had just blindly trusted Adam about it.

The serpent craftily confused Eve. Did God REALLY say that….. and of EVERY tree?

We too have not seen Jesus or heard God’s voice physically. We are relying on the Bible, written by those who have. Just like Eve relied on Adam.

trust god

Satan knows where to strike. The only way he can discourage us is in our minds.
Did God REALLY promise to never forsake me? I mean I don’t see Him anywhere..
Did God REALLY say He would guide me along my way? I don’t hear a big booming voice talking to me?

Did God REALLY say that He loves me? I mean there are literally billions of people on earth, can He know me as much as my partner or parent?
Did God REALLY want me to be holy in this aspect? Everybody does it, what’s wrong?
Did God REALLY say to wait for His perfect time? Can’t I do my own thing my way?
Does God REALLY care?
Does God REALLY have good plans for me? It looks like He has good plans for some and not-so-good plans for others?

Do we remember how our kids have been during their younger years? How they trusted us blindly? Crossing the road, their hand in ours, they wouldn’t even look at the traffic cos they know they are safe. If we take them in the car or on a flight, they blindly follow us, because they trust us. That’s a child’s faith. That’s the faith God asks of us. Not to overthink (like Adam and Eve started to when they ate of the tree of knowledge) but to trust God blindly.

Do we deny our children things that may harm them no matter how much they cry about it? So does God.

Do we tell our children we are doing things for their good and their future even when they protest and can’t see it? So does God.

Are we accused of playing favorites among our children even though we know that we love them equally but need to deal with them differently because of their different natures? Same with God!!

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ”.
2 Corinthians‬ 1:20‬

Yes, we may not hear His booming voice or see Him physically YET, but with the eyes of faith, we will see Him invisibly working in our lives. (Yes that’s a paradox!)

“Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see.”
Hebrews‬ 11:1‬

And then one day, we will truly see Him face to face and hear His beautiful voice when we finally get to our resting place with Him.
